Jennifer, the owner of and designer at In Other Words, began blogging about her children in 2007. Each year, she turns that year's blog posts into a book.
"I love knowing that my children will be able to hold in their hands our memories of how we spent our days, that they will see the photos behind the stories and read the stories behind the photos, and that they will get an idea of the children that they used to be," she explains.
Making books taps a different sort of creativity and persnicketiness that satisfies the former editor's need for precision. "Time passes without my realizing it. I get a fire in my eye when I design a page just so. I fall asleep more easily at night, knowing that my stories are preserved, in ink, on paper, because, at the end of the day, I'm an old-fashioned kind of girl," Jennifer said.
You needn't have a blog for Jennifer to create a book for you. Turn over your recipe collection, your travelogue, a collection of essays, your children's mustn't-forget one-liners. Jennifer can create a book for you.
